Columbus Crew defeat Philadelphia Union 1-0 in return to MLS regular-season play: Replay

The Crew were just three days removed from the Leagues Cup final when they kicked off against the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday with heavily adjusted starting lineup. Behind a goal from substitution Yaw Yeboah, Columbus picked up a 1-0 victory, a first at Subaru Park since 2015.

In the starting lineup for the Crew were four of the five players they picked up during the secondary transfer window, including Andres Herrera in his first appearance for Columbus. Regular starting midfielder Sean Zawadzki was put on the back line to start and given the captain's armband for the first time in his career.

Crew coach Wilfried Nancy started making substitutions around the 62-minute mark. Putting in leading scorers Diego Rossi and Cucho Hernandez, Nancy also added midfielder Yaw Yeboah to the lineup.

Yeboah, who had yet to score since his MLS Cup final goal last year, was on the left side of Philadelphia's box to receive a cross from Max Arfsten in the 75th minute. As the ball came down, Yeboah took a header shot, and after a bounce, the ball went past goalkeeper Andre Blake for the only goal of the match.

The Crew have defeated the Union twice in the last eight days.
