Columbus Crew send Philip Quinton to Real Salt Lake general allocation money
The Crew traded defender Philip Quinton to Real Salt Lake for up to $200,000 in general allocation money, the club announced on Friday, It is the Crew's first trade of the season.
Of the $200,000, $150,000 is guaranteed, with the other $50,000 being conditional and will be given to the Crew if performance-based incentives are met.

Quinton was drafted by the Crew with the 25th pick of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft after spending four seasons at Notre Dame and was one of the team's two first-round selections that year. Before selecting Quinton, the club took current goalkeeper Patrick Schulte with the 12th pick.
During his first year in Columbus, Quinton started 17 matches for Crew 2 and helped the club win the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Cup title.
The 24-year-old signed a first-team contract during the 2023 offseason and begin year as a starter, playing all 90 minutes in Crew's first six matches, scoring one goal. As the season went on, Quinton's role became reduced and by the conclusion of the year he had only recorded 12 appearances.
Splitting time between the first team and Crew 2, Quinton recorded his first appearance with the Crew this season against Salt Lake on April 13. In what is now the only game he played for Columbus is 2024, the club recorded a 0-0 draw, with Quinton being handed one of nine yellow cards between the two teams in the match.
