Columbus Crew to make official White House visit for 2023 MLS Cup championship

To honor the Crew's 2023 MLS Cup championship title, the club will be making an official visit to the White House on Friday, ahead of its match against D.C. United on Saturday.

"The Columbus Crew are honored to participate in the special American tradition of celebrating our most recent league championship with the White House,” Crew owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam said in a statement. “Our club, players and staff fully appreciate the unique opportunities we have to represent our supporters, the city of Columbus, Major League Soccer and our sport throughout the world, including through this memorable event.”

The White House official who will be giving the main address at the ceremony has yet to be disclosed, but Crew coach Wilfried Nancy will give a brief address following.

This marks the Crew's first visit to the White House since 2009, when they were honored for their first MLS Cup title. They were unable to make the trip after the 2020 MLS Cup title due to COVID-19 restrictions.
