Colts RT Braden Smith is out vs. Texans with a knee injury

Indianapolis Colts right tackle Braden Smith is going into his seventh season as a starter.

INDIANAPOLIS — Colts right tackle Braden Smith fought his way back from a knee injury to return to the lineup for the final two games of the season.

But Smith’s knee might not be able to hold up for the entire season finale.

Smith left Saturday’s game against the Texans in the third quarter with a knee injury and was announced as questionable to return, per press box announcement.

Rookie tackle Blake Freeland entered the lineup in place of Smith.

Smith has already missed four games this season due to hip and wrist injuries, and he missed three games in December due to the knee before returning to the lineup against the Raiders last week, sparking the Indianapolis running game.

The big right tackle politely declined any details on the injury earlier this week.

“He went out there and just battled through a lot,” Colts right guard Will Fries said last week.

But Smith is out now, standing on the sideline with his left knee wrapped.
