College football rankings: Where Georgia ranks in preseason top 25
Georgia football sits atop the preseason Associated Press top 25 rankings as No. 1.
The Bulldogs also began last season No. 1 in the AP poll and held that spot through the regular season before falling to No. 6 after an SEC championship game loss to Alabama. The Bulldogs finished No. 4 in the final poll after drilling Florida State 63-3 in the Orange Bowl to finish at 13-1.
The Bulldogs have ranked in the preseason top 5 each of the last seven seasons.
Georgia received 46 of 62 first place votes with No. 2 Ohio State garnering 15 and No. 3 Oregon 1. The rest of the top five is No. 4 Texas and No. 5 Alabama.
Georgia will play five teams listed in the AP top 15, starting with No. 14 Clemson on Aug. 31 in Atlanta. The other ranked opponents are on the road against No. 4 Texas, No. 5 Alabama and No. 6 Ole Miss and at home vs. No. 15 Tennessee.
Where Georgia ranked in coaches poll
The No. 1 ranking matches the Bulldogs’ spot in the preseason US LMB Coaches Poll that was released last week.
The top five in that poll included No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 Texas and No. 5 Alabama.
