College Basketball Invitational will return to Daytona Beach's Ocean Center in March

Postseason basketball is returning to Daytona Beach.

For the fourth consecutive year, the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) will take place at the Ocean Center, the Gazelle Group, the tournament’s producer, announced Monday. The 16th edition of the event is scheduled for March 23-27.

The first round and quarterfinals will be broadcast on FloHoops. The semifinals and finals will air on ESPN2.

“We are excited to return to Daytona Beach,” Gazelle Group President Rick Giles said in a statement. “It’s the perfect destination for a great postseason tournament with the hotel being on the beach and the arena right across the street.”

The CBI consists of 16 Division I teams from across the country that did not make the NCAA Tournament. The bracket, which will be solidified in March, is single-elimination.

Before shifting to the Ocean Center in 2021 because of COVID-19, the CBI was held on the campus of participating schools.

Last year, Charlotte claimed the CBI title with a 71-68 victory over Eastern Kentucky.

The Daytona Beach area had a local participant, too, with Stetson earning an invitation to the field. The Hatters fell to Milwaukee 87-83 in overtime during a first-round matchup.

Tickets for the 2024 iteration are on sale now. They also can be purchased at the Ocean Center box office on game days.
