Cody Glass says viral moment with Nashville Predators fans 'cooler than scoring 3 goals'
It was an extraordinary moment for Cody Glass — not to mention the most viral interview of any Nashville Predators player this season.
The only problem is, he could barely hear any of it.
"When I wanted to talk, I couldn't hear my own voice," he said of his postgame interview moment with Bally Sports South. "I don't know if the video captures just how loud it actually was."
No doubt.

After scoring his first career hat trick and being named first star of the game, Glass emerged from the tunnel for a bench interview with Bally Sports South reporter Kara Hammer.
But before he could answer Hammer's first question, the crowd erupted in cheers. He stopped in the middle of his answer — just to take everything in — then was overcome with emotion. After a lengthy standing ovation from the crowd, Glass wiped away tears and stood in awe of the moment.
"That was something I can't even dream up," he said. "Scoring a hat trick, I can dream up. But getting that kind of response from the crowd was well beyond anything."
Chants of "Cody!" punctuated the rest of the interview, with Glass speaking from the heart about how special it was to score his first hat trick in front of Predators fans.
"That was cooler than scoring three goals, to be honest," he said.
On the Bally Sports South and NHL accounts on X (formerly Twitter), the viral video has racked up more than 600,000 views combined. Add in Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, and Glass' moment has been viewed more than a million times.
Hammer, who had a similar viral moment with Pekka Rinne in 2018, said the crowd was "loud and just kept getting louder."

"Moments like that are why I wanted to do this job," Hammer told The Tennessean. "I don't think there was a single person that wasn't happy for Cody.
"It was one of those moments that, when my broadcasting career is over, I will never forget."
Cody Glass gets love from friends and family
As you might expect, Glass was flooded with text messages from friends and family after the game.
"I think everybody and their brother and sister reached out to me first," Glass said, recalling his hours after the game. He mentioned current Predators development coach Mark Borowiecki, junior hockey coach Mike Johnston, and staff psychologist Vickie Woosley as ones that stood out to him.
"A lot of texts, a lot of support, which is something I'm very grateful for. It's why we play the game," he said.
Glass has had a difficult year from a production standpoint, most of which can be attributed to two early season injuries. He signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the Predators in July, but has struggled to match his scoring output from last season. His three-goal output on Saturday brought his season total to five.
It may disappoint some fans to know: Players who score hat tricks don't get to keep any hats thrown on the ice. Instead, they get three pucks, signed with the game date.
"I will probably end up giving [the pucks] to my dad," Glass said. "I gave my [first goal] puck to my dad, so I'll give him my hat trick pucks, too."
