Cleveland Browns training camp day 12 updates: Live from the start of a big week in Berea

BEREA — It's a big week for the Browns.

The Minnesota Vikings are coming to Berea to participate in a pair of joint practices, followed by a preseason game. Those joint practices, though, won't be until Wednesday and Thursday, and will be closed off to the fans.

Still, the Browns do have another of their six open practices for the fans on Monday. That will start at 2 p.m.

Follow along here throughout the day for updates from what head coach Kevin Stefanski said and what his team did on day 12 of training camp:

Hakeem Adeniji, James Hudson III both working at left tackle

James Hudson III took the first practice rep with the No. 1 offense at left tackle. However, he wasn't the only one to work at that spot.

Hakeem Adeniji, who was signed as a free agent in March, also took reps at the spot. Adeniji started at left tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals during their run to the Super Bowl in February, 2022, and their march to the AFC Championship game in Kansas City the following season.

Shelby Harris, Jerry Jeudy back on practice field after injuries

Defensive tackle Shelby Harris and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy were both back on the practice field Monday after having dealt with injuries. Harris hadn't been seen on the field since the Browns returned to Berea, while Jeudy's only full practice participation this preseason had come on Aug. 4.

Tight end David Njoku absent from practice Monday

Tight end David Njoku was the most noteworthy absence for the Browns Monday. However, Njoku was not present due to "personal reasons."

David Bell likely out 'week or two' with quad injury

Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that wide receiver David Bell would likely be out "a week or two" while he comes back from a quad injury. Bell suffered the injury during the preseason opener against the Packers.

Bell had a 5-yard catch early in the game. He also had a 15-yard completion on fourth down that was negated by penalty on the second series.

Stefanski wasn't sure which play was definitively the one on which Bell was injured.

Browns waive John Kelly Jr., among other roster moves

The Browns announced a variety of roster moves prior to Monday's practice. Those moves included the following signings:

  • LB Brandon Bouyer-Randle

  • CB Faion Hicks

  • S Chase Williams

Also the Browns waived these three players:

  • CB Vincent Gray (injury designation)

  • DE Marcus Haynes

  • LS Rex Sunahara

The Browns also terminated the contract of running back John Kelly Jr.
