Clemson baseball sweeps doubleheader vs Florida State to end Seminoles' perfect start to season

CLEMSON — One lesson Clemson baseball's opponents learned this season is to never count out the Tigers. The latest foe to realize this was Florida State.

The Tigers (21-2, 4-1 ACC) faced the Seminoles (19-2, 3-2) in a doubleheader Saturday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium and pulled off two comeback victories over the last undefeated team in the nation.

After allowing four runs in the first inning, No. 5 Clemson outscored No. 12 FSU 15-1 for the rest of the first game to win 15-5. In game two, the Tigers were down 8-1 entering the ninth inning and scored eight runs to take down the Seminoles.

Jacob Hinderleider hit a three-run home run to left-center field, Blake Wright crushed a one-out game-tying grand slam on the first pitch and Hinderleider returned to the plate to hit a two-out walk-off RBI single to lift the Tigers to an 9-8 win.

Wright has been on a tear, going 19-for-38 with eight home runs in his last nine games, including a homer in game one of the doubleheader.

The Tigers, a team that entered this week atop the ACC power rankings after taking down No. 9 Duke in their series last week, continue to showcase they have the talent and experience to reach the College World Series for the first time since 2010.

Clemson will go for the series sweep Sunday in the finale at 1 p.m.
