Fantasy football managers ran into an absolute nightmare on Monday night ahead of the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets game.

Superstar 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey was declared inactive ahead of Monday night's game against the Jets with concern about his calf/Achilles injury.

McCaffrey sitting out Monday's game is probably smart for San Francisco but is very difficult for his fantasy managers. However, there is maybe hope at the last second... if you're able to make it work.

San Francisco running back Jordan Mason will step up in McCaffrey's stead as the next man up on the depth chart, while veteran Patrick Taylor Jr. and rookie Isaac Guerendo will provide depth. Maybe one of those guys is on your roster to start.

Meanwhile, Jets rookie running back Braelon Allen presents an intriguing option that may also be on your bench.

Mason and Allen are your best bets if you're able to start them before kickoff if you're stuck with replacing McCaffrey. However, your bench may have already played and you might just be stuck with this difficult development.
