Chris Sale released from hospital after dealing with stomach illness
Boston Red Sox starter Chris Sale raised some eyebrows after an uncharacteristic performance in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. The reason for his struggles may have been revealed on Sunday.
Sale was admitted to the hospital due to a stomach illness, according to Rob Bradford of WEEI. The Red Sox confirmed the news, saying the 29-year-old Sale would be kept overnight.
Sale was released from the hospital Monday.

Sale lasted just four innings during a 7-2 Game 1 loss to the Houston Astros. He struggled with his control, walking four batters during the loss.
Following Game 2, which the Red Sox won 7-5, manager Alex Cora said Sale’s illness was “nothing serious.”
Alex Cora said Chris Sale’s trip to the hospital for a stomach ailment was “nothing serious” from what he understood, and he hopes he joins the team in Houston after staying overnight.

Sale is scheduled to start Game 5 of the ALCS on Thursday in Houston.
