Chris Paul praises Jonathan Kuminga’s growth this season

Jonathan Kuminga has emerged as an integral Golden State Warriors rotation member. The third-year forward has been thriving as part of the starting lineup in a new-look frontcourt that includes Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green. His athleticism has ensured Steve Kerr has a legitimate rim threat whenever he’s on the court.

When speaking to the media following Golden State’s win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday (March, 1) Chris Paul praised the growth he’s seen from Kuminga this season. The veteran guard also stressed the importance the young forward has for the Warriors and how his presence makes the roster more complete.

“Early in the season I bet JK probably hated us because we were on him all the time, but it’s, we see so much in him,” Paul said. “The energy he brings with our team, and that gelling with us, who play a cerebral game, it’s great brand of basketball.”

Kuminga is averaging 15.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 53.3% from the field and 30.3% from 3-point range. He has started 32 of the 58 games he’s participated in. He is also quickly emerging as a future All-Star in the Western Conference.

Golden State’s sudden resurgence has ensured the team has an opportunity to qualify for the postseason. Kuminga will likely have a big role to play for Steve Kerr’s team when that time comes. For now, he needs to continue making the most of his opportunities and improving his game.
