Check out Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff's TD CATCH in the middle of perfect passing streak

The Detroit Lions' trickery continues.

At the Seattle 7-yard line, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson dialed up a double-reverse pass, also known as a Philly Special, and Amon-Ra St. Brown flipped a perfectly weighted pass to his quarterback in the corner of the end zone. The touchdown was set up by a devastating catch and run from David Montgomery, who made nearly all of Seattle's defense miss on a dump-off for a 40-yard gain, followed by a 23-yard completion to Tim Patrick.

Goff said the play has been in the Lions' playbook for years and they haven't gotten the opportunity to break it out until tonight.

"That play has been in for a long time," Goff said. "We've never gotten to the right situation for it to be called. I think we have called it before but it just wasn't the right look and I got out of it."

The Lions got the look they wanted from the Seahawks defense, prompting Goff to nod his head at the line of scrimmage as a signal to go ahead. As soon as St. Brown saw that, he was ready to uncork the first touchdown pass of his career.

"In my head when he said that, once he pitched it to me I'm throwing it no matter what," St. Brown said. "He said we are good. This is my chance to get a touchdown throw, Jared can catch one."

Always a tough critic, St. Brown graded Goff's route running and general receiver abilities as a seven out of 10 but feels like he showed enough of himself to step into an emergency quarterback role for Detroit. He also said the play is named Alcatraz, a moniker that Johnson came up with.

"He comes up with most of the names but the name of this play was Alcatraz," St. Brown said.

The catch by Goff came in the midst of a perfect streak of completions, as Goff completed the first 18 passes he attempted on Monday night. And yet, he didn't have what the NFL considers a "perfect" passer rating, 158.3, because he didn't have enough TD passes. With 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Goff had "only" a 155.8 rating.
