The Texas A&M football team may have a battle beginning for its most important position.

Following a dominant 33-20 victory at Florida, head coach Mike Elko may have to consider a change to the Aggies starting quarterback. In place of injured junior Conner Weigman, redshirt freshman Marcel Reed started Saturday for the second time in his collegiate career alongside the 2023 Texas Bowl.

Reed completed 11-of-17 attempts for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns. He added 13 carries for 84 yards and 1 tuddy, breaking Gators' ankles all the way until the final buzzer. While Weigman's career in College Station has been limited due to injuries, Reed's brilliance may be creating a controversy under center in Aggieland.

Reed looks like a much better fit in the playbook created by offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Collin Klein. Next up for Texas A&M is a matchup at Kyle Field with Bowling Green on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
