LSU football opened SEC play with a crucial road victory in a late comeback against South Carolina in Week 3.

The No. 16 Tigers return to non-conference play this week and will face the Big Ten's UCLA on Saturday in Baton Rouge. This is LSU's return game after the Tigers and Bruins played in 2021 in the Rose Bowl. UCLA won the first-ever meeting between the two programs 38-27 on Sept. 4, 2021.

LSU is coming off a 36-33 road conference victory over the Gamecocks, in which it trailed by as much as 17-0 in the first half. Josh Williams scored the game-winning touchdown with 2:34 left before USC missed the game-tying field goal with time expiring. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Nussmeier ― who is taking over for 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels ― has completed 81-of-116 passes (69.8%) for 895 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. He had six touchdown passes against Nicholls State in Week 2.

UCLA won its opener over Hawaii in Week 1 16-13 and had a Week 2 bye. The Bruins lost 42-13 to Indiana to open Big Ten play last week at home. Quarterback Ethan Garbers has struggled with three interceptions in two games. He is the team's leading rusher with 14 rushes for 68 yards.
