Celtics list three players on injury report ahead of Pacers rematch

The Boston Celtics will face the Indiana Pacers for the second time in three days when they go toe-to-toe on Monday (Jan. 8.) In their last meeting, which occurred on Saturday (Jan. 6,) the Celtics held Indiana to their lowest points total of the season. However, Kristaps Porzingis was forced to leave the game early due to an eye injury he sustained while jostling for a rebound with former Celtic Aaron Nesmith.

The Celtics released their injury report after their rematch against Indiana. Porzingis, Jayson Tatum, and Sam Hauser are all listed as questionable. Of course, the report is subject to change as we get closer to the game and the Celtics make final decisions on the three members of their rotation.

Should Boston decide to operate without Porzingis in the rotation, Al Horford, who was exceptional on Saturday, will likely step into the starting lineup. However, if Tatum is ruled out, Joe Mazzulla will have some decisions to make regarding who steps into the starting lineup, especially given Hauser is also listed on the current injury report.

The Celtics have been arguably the best team in the NBA this season, winning 28 of their 35 games and only losing two contests when their starting five has been available. As such, they should continue to feel confident heading into their matchup against Indiana, regardless of who is and isn’t ruled out of the game.
