Canadiens: Laine Making Progress

Today was team picture day at the Bell Centre, and there was more than one reason to smile for the Montreal Canadiens. Not only did they have to flash those smiles for the photographers, but seeing Patrik Laine's progress was another reason to smile.

Although he was still wearing a heavy brace, the big Finn was seen walking around without crutches. Believe it or not, it's only been three weeks and a bit since Cedric Pare rained on Laine's parade, injuring him on a knee-on-knee hit.

What was first feared to be a season-ending injury turned into a knee sprain. After getting a few opinions, the verdict was out: Laine would be out of action for two to three months.

The injury could have justified surgery, but the sniper decided to go the more traditional way and avoid going under the knife. While there is still quite a way to go before the Finnish right winger can even think about playing again, managing to walk without crutches is definitely a big step in the right direction.
