Bruins Forward Blasts Flyers Defender's Cheap Shot

During the Boston Bruins' disappointing 2-0 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, Bruins forward Matthew Poitras got into a scrum with Flyers defenseman Emil Andrae. The 20-year-old is not known for his grittiness, but he showed off that element of his game against Philly, and for good reason.

Andrae unexpectedly punched Poitras, which led to the Bruins forward to stand up for himself against the Flyers defender immediately. While the pair did not get into a legitimate fight, the scrum was enough for them to both receive two-minute roughing penalties.

Seeing Poitras stand up for himself was nice, and it carried over to after the game. While speaking to reporters, the Ajax, Ontario native made it clear that he was not a fan of Andrae's punch.

Here is what Poitras said on the matter: "I was just trying to battle for the puck, and we just both grabbed each other. There was a little kind of skirmish, just trying to play the puck, and obviously, I didn't like the sucker punch."

Poitras and the Bruins will face off against the Flyers again on Saturday (Nov. 2). It would not be surprising if we see another chippy game between the two Eastern Conference rivals.
