Bruins Make Big Lineup Changes For Avalanche Matchup

After another loss to the Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery is making some major changes to the club's forward lines for their matchup against the Colorado Avalanche.

According to The Boston Globe's Jim McBride, Trent Frederic will be moved up to the club's second line with Charlie Coyle and Brad Marchand. In addition, McBride reported that Max Jones and Riley Tufte will play on the third line with Matthew Poitras, while Morgan Geekie and Justin Brazeau will be scratched.

Hearing that the Bruins are making some notable changes to their middle six is not surprising in the slightest. The second line, in particular, has been incredibly quiet early on, so moving up Frederic could give them a boost. This is especially so when noting that he has had good chemistry with Coyle in the past.

Jones has not played since the club's season opener, so he will now look to impress big-time on the third line. Tufte has also been scratched for all but one game this season, so this is a golden chance for him to show he deserves more playing time.

Geekie, who has played top-six minutes, has zero points and a minus-4 rating in four games. As for Brazeau, he has one assist and a minus-3 rating in four contests.
