British Open betting: Jon Rahm is the favorite and the most-bet golfer
U.S. Open champion Jon Rahm is favored to get another major win.
Rahm won the first major of his career at Torrey Pines in June. And now he leads the field at the British Open with +750 odds to win the fourth and final major of 2021.
Rahm is the most-bet player at BetMGM. He opened at +1100 and has seen his odds get better as 6.2% of wagers have been on him to win and 7.5% of the handle — the total money wagered — is on him to win.
Nearly twice as much money is on Xander Schauffele to win. That’s because a bettor placed $2,400 on Schauffele to get his first major win. The bet was placed with Schauffele at +2000. His odds are currently at +1600 and he’s currently the biggest liability for the sportsbook. BetMGM is hoping that someone else wins the tournament.
Schauffele is the No. 3 favorite behind Rahm and Brooks Koepka. Koepka’s odds have moved from +1600 to +1400 as 5.6% of wagers are on him to win and 6.5% of the money bet at BetMGM is on him.
Here’s a look at the list of favorites heading into the Open. It begins Thursday at Royal St. George’s in Sandwich, Kent, England.
