Brian Branch injury update: Detroit Lions DB exits after scary collision

Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch exited in the fourth quarter with a neck injury Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.

Branch laid a big hit on a Cardinals tight end Trey McBride as both players lowered the helmets and collided on a 9-yard catch. Both players stayed down as trainers attended. Branch walked off slowly to the medical tent and was immediately ruled questionable by the Lions.

He did not return and was replaced by Brandon Joseph, who spent last season on the practice squad after going undrafted out of Notre Dame.

The Lions won, 20-13, and next play on Monday Night Football in Week 4 vs. the Seattle Seahawks (3-0).

The Lions lost two defensive starters in the first half, with linebacker Derrick Barnes and tackle Alim McNeill ruled out with injures.

Tight end Sam LaPorta injured his right ankle too.
