Joey DAccord extends in Seattle...hearing 5x$5M
— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) October 9, 2024
Daccord had played 19 career NHL games with both the Kraken and the Ottawa Senators before having a breakout 2023-24 campaign which saw him play 50 games, recording a .916SV% and 2.46GAA.
The 28-year-old netminder is set to split the crease with Philipp Grubauer but due to his struggles throughout his Kraken career, the job is there to be taken by Daccord.
Handing out a five year extension shows the organization has faith in Daccord and that they are strong believers that last season was not a fluke and that he can be a starting goaltender in the NHL. Daccord was going to be a UFA at the end of the season after he signed a two-year $1.2M with the Kraken.
Starting next season the Kraken will be paying Daccord $5M and Grubauer $5.9M. Grubauer’s contract isn’t set to expire until 2027.
