Brazil fans held a 'funeral' for Germany after World Cup flameout (Video)
Fans of the Brazilian national team will never be able to escape 7-1. They will never fully recover from that infamous 2014 World Cup semifinal loss to Germany. But their vengeful desires were, in an indirect and incomplete way, satisfied on Wednesday.
Germany crashed out of the 2018 World Cup with a 2-0 loss to South Korea. It was the Germans’ first group stage elimination ever. It was the first time either Brazil or Germany had failed to progress past the tournament’s first round since 1966.
So a horde of Brazil fans in Lebanon decided to stage a funeral procession for the fallen:

The mood, of course, was anything but funereal. It was euphoric, with hints of humor and schadenfreude mixed in.
And they weren’t the only ones celebrating at Germany’s expense. Fox Sports Brazil responded to the reigning World Cup champs’ misfortune with this tweet:
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Brazil fans had been made to remember 2014 so many times over the past four years. They had been reminded on New Year’s Day last year by Toni Kroos:

So can you really blame them for reveling in Germany’s failure four years later?
