Braves sign 3B Austin Riley to 10-year, $212M contract, the largest in team history
The Atlanta Braves announced on Monday that they've signed third baseman Austin Riley to a 10-year, $212 million contract that runs through 2032. The deal includes a $20 million club option for 2033.
Riley, 25, is a career .280/.340/.524 hitter with 88 home runs and 251 RBI in 392 games since joining the Braves at the big-league level in 2019. He tallied career highs during Atlanta's World Series run last season with 29 home runs and 107 RBI. He has 29 home runs and 68 RBI while slashing .301/.360/.604 through 101 games this season.
Riley won a Silver Slugger and finished seventh in NL MVP voting last season. He made his first MLB All-Star team in July. Per the Braves, his contract is the "most lucrative in club history." He's currently playing on a one-year, $3.95 million deal and was previously eligible for arbitration through 2025.
Riley is the latest core player to sign a long-term deal with the Braves. His is by far the largest. All-Star outfielder Ronald Acuña is signed to an eight-year, $100 million deal through 2028. All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albies is signed to a seven-year, $35 million contract through 2027. All-Star first baseman Matt Olson is signed to an eight-year, $168 million deal through 2030.

Olson notably joined the Braves and signed his contract after Atlanta failed to come to terms with Freddie Freeman in the offseason. Freeman, who won an NL MVP and World Series in 12 years with the Braves, instead signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in free agency.
