Brad Marchand Defends Bruins Coach After Heated Exchange

During the Boston Bruins' loss to the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday (Oct. 19), Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery was caught screaming at captain Brad Marchand. This was after Marchand had a brutal turnover that led to a Utah goal, which would later be overturned.

Montgomery also noticeably tapped Marchand's shoulder during the heated exchange, which created speculation about a potential issue between the player and coach.

When asked about it on Thursday (Oct. 24), Marchand made it abundantly clear that he does not hold a grudge.

Here is what Marchand said on the matter:

"People are very sensitive these days. It's unfortunate how coaches are scrutinized over things like that. There's a lack of accountability nowadays because people can't handle the heat. You make a mistake like that, you deserve to hear about it. I'm glad that he said something about it, because if he didn't, we would have much bigger issues. The fact that it's something we're talking about is disappointing, but that's the way things are."

It is good to hear that Marchand has no issue with Montgomery calling him out against Utah. He understood why he was, and both sides have clearly moved on from it.

Marchand will now look to have a big response game against the Dallas Stars on Thursday (Oct. 24). In seven games, he has four assists and a minus-3 rating.
