Boston Celtics jersey history No. 4 - Noah Vonleh (2022-23)
The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.
With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover. And for today's article, we will continue with the 30th of 31 players to don the No. 4 jersey, Boston big man alum Noah Vonleh.
A local man from nearby Salem, Massachusetts, Vonleh would play his college ball at the University of Indiana before he was picked up with the ninth overall selection of the 2014 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. He would play just one season with that team before he would be traded with Gerald Henderson to the Portland Trail Blazers for Nicolas Batum in 2015.
Vonleh would play for that team, the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, and Brooklyn Nets before playing a stint abroad in China. He would sign with Boston in 2022, and played in 23 games for the Celtics that season before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs for draft assets in 2023, heading back to China to play in the CBA after.
During his time wearing the green and white (all wearing No. 4), Vonleh put up an average of 1.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
