Boston Celtics guard expresses excitement for Kristaps Porzingis return
The Boston Celtics have been without Kristaps Porzingis to begin the 2024-25 NBA season. The veteran big man has been recovering from offseason surgery. Al Horford, Luke Kornet and Neemias Queta have been holding things down in the middle of the court. However, Porzingis is now nearing a return to Joe Mazzulla's rotation. We will likely see him make his season debut some point in December or early January, if not sooner.
During a recent post-practice interview, veteran guard Jrue Holiday expressed his excitement at having Porzingis back on the floor. Holiday and Porzingis both joined the Celtics roster during the 2023 offseason and played significant roles in the team's charge toward a championship. Porzingis will undoubtedly improve the Celtics' stuttering rim defense while also supercharging their offense, especially on the perimeter and in the post.
Nevertheless, Boston will likely be cautious about how quickly they will bring Porzingis back and the number of minutes they can afford him. Mazzulla's team has won 11 of its first 14 games without the All-Star center, which should give them a level of patience with the big man's return.
