After blowout loss to No. 1 UConn, Marquette still in the top 10 of Associated Press poll

The Marquette men's basketball team suffered its largest margin of defeat of the season on Saturday.

But the Golden Eagles (19-6, 10-4 Big East) weren't punished too much for their 81-53 loss against Connecticut in Hartford since it came at the hands of the top-ranked team in the country.

MU dropped to No. 7 in the Associated Press rankings released on Monday. The Golden Eagles were ranked fourth last week.

(Editor's note: Journal Sentinel beat writer Ben Steele ranked MU sixth in his weekly ballot).

MU is ranked No. 8 in the USA Today coaches poll.

The Golden Eagles have been in the top 10 of the AP rankings in 13 of the 16 polls this season.
