Evander Kane goes to Buffalo in blockbuster deal

Evander Kane is out of Winnipeg ... and he's off to Buffalo!

Sportnet's Elliotte Friedman had the news:

TSN's Darren Dreger was beating the drum on it this morning.

This would be classified under the “major” trade category. The Jets are jettisoning some assets that haven’t worked out for them, and in return … they're getting a serviceable forward in Drew Stafford, a big defensmean in Tyler Myers and a prospect in Brendan Lemieux who was a high second round pick in 2014, and Joel Armia, a former first rounder who has put up points with the Sabres' AHL affiliate in Rochester this year.

This interestingly keeps Myers away from the Ducks – a team that needs blueline help which was rumored to have been in on him.

As for the Sabres. Getting an injured Kane and Zach Bogosian as well, embraces the tanking philosophy that could net them Connor McDavid with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft. And also sets the team up with a couple of boom or bust guys who were high-end draft picks in the past.
