Former Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen has landed at Houston.

Allen, who was named Texas A&M’s starter in fall camp, played in 10 of the Aggies 12 games and completed 160 of 283 passes for 2,210 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He decided to transfer following the 2015 season after loing his starting role to Kyler Murray, who also transferred. Murray transferred to Oklahoma.

“I would like to commend the members of the media who have accurately reported the mutual interest between our program and Kyle throughout this process," Houston coach Tom Herman said in a statement. "I am big on accountability within our program as we teach our young men to do the right thing, and I would hope members of the media would practice accountability as well. A completely inaccurate local report surfaced on Dec. 13 that Kyle and I had met in Houston, a report that could have been damaging to both our program and Kyle, and our accountability and truthfulness in speaking with others. In a world where too many are jumping at the chance to say they were first, I hope we all take time to ensure our reports are accurate.”

Allen was a five-star recruit and the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2014 according to Rivals. He won the starting job from Kenny Hill in the middle of that season and finished 2014 with 1,322 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Allen will have to sit out 2016 per NCAA rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining in 2017.
