Baylor’s Ahmad Dixon cleared of suspicion of assault
Baylor safety Ahmad Dixon was arrested for assault in September but on Wednesday, a grand jury cleared him of the possible charges.
He was arrested for assaulting a man who Dixon had accused of breaking into his house and stealing his television set. The man said that Dixon had punched him in the head and face.
After the warrant was issued, Dixon turned himself in.
Instead of charging Dixon with a misdemeanor assault charge, the McLennan County District Attorney had a grand jury look into the charges.
Dixon, a second team AP All-American, was not suspended by coach Art Briles immediately following the incident. He finished the regular season with 70 total tackles, six pass breakups and seven passes defensed. The Big 12 champions play Central Florida in the Fiesta Bowl.
