Johnny Sauter wins as two separate crashes happen behind him in Truck Series race at Talladega
Is this a harbinger of things to come during Sunday's Sprint Cup Series race? Let's hope not.
Johnny Sauter won as almost the entire field crashed behind him in two separate accidents on the final lap of Saturday's Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega.
The first crash happened when Jeb Burton got hit and slid into Kyle Busch and in the subsequent mess, Miguel Paludo flipped over. Just seconds later, Ross Chastain hit Matt Crafton and the remaining four trucks ahead of the crash went crashing themselves as Sauter sailed to the finish line.
Justin Lofton was taken to the hospital for further evaluation after the crash, and every other driver involved was released from the infield care center. Both Busch and Bubba Wallace appeared out of breath after the crashes, which saw trucks bouncing off walls that didn't have SAFER barriers. Which is absolutely inexplicable and indefensible.
