Arkansas high school sophomore Malik Monk, the god of dunk
Nathan Harkey, who posted this dunk from Bentonville (Ark.) High sophomore sensation Malik Monk on Instagram, said it best from behind his camera phone as the play unfolded. "Uh-oh."
Now, we're not sure if Harkey's description of Monk as "the next Michael Jordan" is entirely accurate, but it's hard to argue with any analogy thrown the 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard's way after this slam. There's a reason he is unanimously considered one of the top 10 players in the Class of 2016.
While just two of his 23 points on the night, the image of Monk reaching back to unleash this alley-oop dunk will forever be etched in the opposition's mind after his Bentonville squad cruised to a 67-36 victory over Cabot in the Class 7A state quarterfinals over the weekend.
Panthers announcer Ryan Higgins reportedly dubbed it Monk's second-best dunk of the season, which seems almost impossible after watching two more angles of his alley-oop masterpiece.
Then again, Monk has had a knack for accomplishing the implausible all season. You may remember him for his back-to-back insane buzzer-beaters last month. Maybe he is the next Michael Jordan, after all.
