HBO host Jim Lampley told fans who were able to view the fight that the start would be delayed in an attempt to allow the companies added time to resolve the problems. The night's two undercard bouts were finished by 10:00 ET and while the main event was expected to start by 10:30, neither fighter was anywhere near the ring by then.
Roy Stallone of HBO told Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports that there were no technical problems and that the delay was only to let the companies process the huge backlog of orders. Both HBO and Showtime anticipated a big rush and encouraged fans all week to order the fight early.
