In the past few weeks, the biggest news related to the Big 12 has come out of Fort Worth. On Wednesday, it was announced that TCU would forfeit its two games this week against Kansas State and Iowa State because it didn't have enough healthy players available to compete. These forfeitures impacted the Big 12 standings and also continued TCU's stunning spiral after a 14-0 start.

Here are the newest power rankings:

1. Kansas State (17-1, 6-0)

What to know: Picking up a free win against TCU on Wednesday was nice. Beating a top-10 team in Texas this past weekend was nicer. Kansas State was ranked seventh by the AP this week, its highest ranking since 2003. But star center Ayoka Lee will miss the next month (ankle).

2. Baylor (14-2, 3-2)

What to know: After a strong start to its season, Baylor was shocked twice last week by Kansas and Iowa State. The Bears have had seven days to think about those two losses before they next play against UCF on Saturday.

3. Texas (17-2, 4-2)

What to know: Playing without its two honorees on the Big 12 preseason team — point guard Rori Harmon (knee) and forward DeYona Gaston (ankle) — Texas showed off its depth and beat Kansas by 35 points this week.

4. Iowa State (12-5, 6-1)

What to know: Thanks to TCU forfeiting this weekend's game against Iowa State, the Cyclones got off to a 6-0 start in Big 12 play and returned to the AP poll. Then that good will was wasted by a midweek loss to Texas Tech.

5. West Virginia (15-2, 4-2)

What to know: Houston entered Wednesday's game at West Virginia averaging 74.9 points per game. The Mountaineers held UH scoreless in the first quarter. That was the first scoreless quarter in WVU's history.

6. Oklahoma (10-6, 4-1)

What to know: So far in conference play, Oklahoma has beaten the Big 12 teams it should beat and lost to Kansas State. A stretch against UT, Kansas and Kansas State at the end of the month could determine OU's fate.

7. Oklahoma State (11-6, 4-2)

What to know: Don't overlook Stailee Heard in the Big 12 freshman of the year conversation. A two-time winner of the conference's weekly award for freshmen, the guard leads the Cowgirls in scoring and rebounding.

8. Texas Tech (14-5, 3-3)

What to know: Texas Tech followed up its last win over a ranked team — last season's 68-64 upset of Texas — by losing seven of its next eight games. Will the Lady Raiders fare better after beating No. 24 Iowa State this week?

9. Kansas (9-8, 2-4)

What to know: Kansas remains a tough team to read. Is this the veteran squad that pounded then-No. 4 Baylor last week? Or is this the team that was routed by shorthanded Texas this week? The Jayhawks better figure it out.

10. Houston (11-6, 2-4)

What to know: The Cougars are coming off of a dud performance against West Virginia, but the Mountaineers have made a lot of teams look bad this season. More of note is that Houston has picked up two conference wins.

11. BYU (11-8, 1-5)

What to know: BYU recently beat Cincinnati and got that "first Big 12 win" checked off its to-do list. For a team that has lost its other five conference games by an average of 14.6 points, that's a necessary baby step.

12. Cincinnati (9-7, 1-4)

What to know: Since Cincinnati is hosting its next two conference foes, it may be now or never for the Bearcats. Cincinnati is 6-2 inside of Fifth Third Arena this season and 3-5 in games played on the road or in a neutral location.

13. TCU (14-4, 1-6)

What to know: TCU entered the new year undefeated, ranked and off to the best start in school history. That dream season has quickly become a nightmare as injuries and losses have piled up for the Horned Frogs.

14. Central Florida (9-6, 0-5)

What to know: Central Florida's nonconference schedule must not have prepared the Knights for Big 12 play. UCF entered conference play with a 9-1 record. Five games later, UCF is the only team without a Big 12 win.
