Big 12 power rankings: What Kansas State football's done to be No. 1

The Big 12 football preseason media poll had a top five of Utah, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Arizona. Those teams have already been involved in four games against one another, and Kansas State is the only team to beat two of the others, whipping Arizona in a non-conference matchup and dispensing with Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Based partly on that, Willie the Wildcats' favorite team is back atop this week's power rankings.

1. Kansas State (4-1, 1-1 in Big 12)

What to know: If Avery Johnson keeps throwing it the way he did against Oklahoma State, look out.

2. Arizona (3-1, 1-0)

Last week: 7

This week: Texas Tech

What to know: How meaningful was the Wildcats' upset of Utah? The Utes had won 33 of their previous 35 home games.

3. Utah (4-1, 1-1)

What to know: Think the Mike Leach mindset doesn't live on in Lubbock? Texas Tech is 16th in the FBS in scoring offense, 122nd in scoring defense and the offensive coordinator is the one people complain about.
