Big 12 football power rankings: Utah takes over top spot, Cam Rising scare notwithstanding
Utah football won two of the past three Pac-12 championship games, so the Utes are expected to pose an immediate threat in their new conference, the Big 12. After holding off putting the Utes atop the Big 12 power rankings, now seems like a good time to move them past previous No. 1 Oklahoma State.
Utah ranks No. 7 in the nation in scoring defense and total defense — granted, against mild competition — whereas Oklahoma State yielded 648 yards while winning a 39-31, double-overtime thriller last week against Arkansas.
