Bengals fans stunned team actually made a win-now trade at deadline
Historically, the Cincinnati Bengals have not made trades to acquire players before the NFL trade deadline. Or do much of anything at the NFL trade deadline, really.
Until this year, anyway.
With Zack Moss lost for the season and the season itself in danger of being lost despite an MVP-level year from Joe Burrow, the Bengals made a splash.
The day of the deadline, the Bengals sent a late-round draft pick to the Chicago Bears for running back Khalil Herbert.
While a low investment, it is a rarity for the Bengals. And it also nets them a player who will produce right away in the offense and, as a whole, is a win-now move.
To say fans were happy would be an understatement.
The 2024 Cincinnati Bengals are buyers at the trade deadline and they’re not done yet. What a world.

Trade a 7th for RB Khalil Herbert.
Had a 4th round grade for us coming out in 2021 and is buried in Chicago.
▪️Career PFF grade of > 80
▪️Minimal tread on the tires with < 500 college carries and < 400 NFL carries
He’d be the best RB on the Bengals roster right away. https://t.co/anpDTjWEcL— Gridiron Grading (@GridironGrading) November 2, 2024

If the Bengals trade for a DL in a pick-swap and recoup a pick (say a 7th), they'll have added 2 players at the cost of just 1 future (day-3) draft pick
It's a no brainer, and a DL trade should happen
Arden Key or Calais Campbell. A 5th or 6th in exchange for the player + a 7th— Andre Perrotta (@andreperrotta13) November 5, 2024

Khalil Herbert has 103 career pass blocking snaps.
He has been charged with 9 pressures and 1 sack from PFF.
Usually graded in the 54-60 for pass blocking.— Goodberry (@JoeGoodberry) November 5, 2024

Interesting nugget on new Bengal Khalil Herbert.
He has turned 22 rushing attempts on 3/4th down and short (3 yards or less) into 16 first downs. He's built like a bowling ball (5'9", 212)
This might solve a big issue that has plagued the Bengals.— Andrew Russell (@Andrew_Russell7) November 5, 2024
