Bears kicker Cody Parkey amazingly hits the upright four times in one game
If you lined up the greatest kickers in the world on a practice field with no defense, it still seems unlikely they could hit the upright four straight times if they tried.
Yet, Chicago Bears kicker Cody Parkey managed to pull it off.
Four times Parkey hit the upright on kicks for the Bears. In order, they came on an extra point attempt, another extra point, a 41-yard field goal and a 34-yard field goal. It went right upright, left upright, right upright, right upright. Every time he hit the upright, the boos at Soldier Field got louder.
It’s not like it was a preferred outcome for Parkey, but it’s still a pretty amazing feat. Goal posts are no more than four inches in diameter, according to NFL rules. It’s not a wide target to hit. Parkey wasn’t having a bad season, having missed three field-goal attempts and no extra points before Sunday. But Sunday was not a good day.
It’s not like anyone is keeping track of the stat, but it’s hard to believe anyone else has hit the goal posts more in an NFL game. It’s not like someone could tie that record even if they were trying, either.
