Bears CB Tyrique Stevenson shares reaction to not starting in Week 9

Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson has been a topic of discussion this week following his actions in the team's last-second Hail Mary loss to the Washington Commanders, where he was seen talking to fans as the play unfolded and then later tipped the ball right into the waiting hands of Noah Brown.

Before Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, a report surfaced from FOX Sports' Jay Glazer (which ESPN's Courtney Cronin later provided more context) about Stevenson's reaction to learning he would not be starting in Week 9.

According to Cronin, Stevenson excused himself after the stretching period during last Wednesday's walkthrough to gather himself before later returning to practice for the team period of practice. While Terell Smith got the starting nod, Stevenson did see the field, especially after Smith suffered an ankle injury.

Following Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, Stevenson shared his side of the story, most notably his reaction to learning he wasn't starting Sunday.

“Honestly, probably (my) feelings were a little hurt," Stevenson told reporters after the game. "Feeling disappointed, but the decision was made. I can’t go against the decisions. I’m here to be a team player, be great guy for this team and that’s what I stood out to do this week.”

Stevenson took accountability for his actions and role in that gut-wrenching Week 8 loss, which included apologizing to his teammates. It was evident watching Sunday's game that Stevenson took the input he's received to heart.
