Our Austin area top 15 boys basketball poll entering 2024
Our top 15 boys basketball teams in the Austin area this week across all classifications:
1. Stony Point
The Tigers (20-1) reached the final of the Whataburger tournament in the metroplex last week where they suffered their first loss of the season to Plano East, who is undefeated and will likely be ranked No. 1 in the Class 6A statewide coaches poll this week.
2. St. Michael's
The Crusaders (21-1) finished third in the William Roberts Memorial tournament at Round Rock with wins over Katy Paetow, Schertz Clemens and Houston Langham Creek. Their only loss came to tournament champion and undefeated Fort Bend Clements in the semifinals.
3. Lake Travis
The Cavs (19-3) went 2-2 in tournament play last week with wins over Amarillo High and Lake Highlands and losses to Lake Ridge and Plano High.
4. Westlake
The Chaps (16-6) reached the final of the William Roberts Memorial tournament at Round Rock with wins vs. The Woodlands, Harker Heights and Langham Creek. They lost to Fort Bend Clements 47-35 in the final.
5. Johnson
The Jaguars (17-3) went 3-1 in tournament play with wins over San Angelo Central, El Paso Montwood and Lake Belton.
6. Rouse
The Raiders (15-7) went 2-2 at the Whataburger tournament with wins over Mansfield Summit and Frenship and narrow losses to Keller and Plano East.
7. Round Rock
The Dragons (12-8) went 1-3 at their own tournament.
8. Bowie
The Bulldogs (15-6) went 4-1 at the Hays tournament with victories over Hendrickson, Killeen Chaparral, Manor New Tech and McNeil.
9. Vandegrift
The Vipers (15-5) went 3-1 in tournament play to finish a hot December.
10. Hendrickson
The Hawks (14-8) went 3-2 at the Hays Holiday Classic.
11. Cedar Ridge
The Raiders (11-9) went 1-3 at the loaded Round Rock tournament.
12. Glenn
The Grizzlies (14-7) went 3-1 at their own tournament, including wins over Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial and Vista Ridge.
13. Manor
The Mustangs (11-6) lost to Bellaire Episcopal.
14. Cedar Creek
The Eagles (15-6) went 3-1 in tournament play.
15. Regents
The Knights (14-5) had a seven-game win streak snapped with a loss to San Antonio Christian.
