Auburn football lands Mississippi State transfer OT Percy Lewis

AUBURN — Auburn football has added a big commitment, both figuratively and literally.

The Tigers have signed Mississippi State transfer offensive tackle Percy Lewis, the program announced Thursday evening. Lewis, a former unranked prospect in the Class of 2020, started his career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he spent two seasons.

Lewis, who is listed at 6-foot-8, 345 pounds, was ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 5 overall junior college recruit when he left Mississippi Gulf Coast and signed at Mississippi State in 2021. He did not see the field in 2021 and appeared in just six games amidst his second season in Starkville, Mississippi.

He didn't begin 2023 as a starter for the Bulldogs, appearing as a reserve in the season's first five games before he took over the role of starting left tackle for the remainder of the campaign. He finished the season with a pass blocking grade of 73.1 from Pro Football Focus.

The addition of Lewis, if he slots in as the starting left tackle on the Plains, could allow the Tigers to kick Dillon Wade inside to replace one of the guard spots left vacant by Gunner Britton and Kam Stutts, both of whom are out of eligibility.

Wade, listed at 6-foot-3, profiles more like an interior offensive lineman than he does a tackle.
