Auburn football benches QB Hank Brown vs Arkansas. Who is Hugh Freeze going with?
AUBURN — Auburn football benched quarterback Hank Brown after a three-interception first half during the Arkansas game Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Payton Thorne got the second half start after being benched for Brown the previous week against New Mexico. Auburn finished with 72 passing yards in the first half as it trailed 7-0 at the break.
Thorne, a team captain, produced nearly 6,500 yards and 49 touchdowns over 29 appearances at Michigan State. In his first season with the Tigers last year, he totaled 1,755 passing yards with 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. In 2024, Thorne currently sits at five touchdowns and four interceptions for 487 yards going into the second half vs. the Razorbacks.

Brown finished his afternoon completing 7 of his 13 passes and three interceptions. In his first two series, Thorne completed 2 of 7 passes for 11 yards.
