Auburn baseball announces starting rotation for opening series vs. Eastern Kentucky
AUBURN — Auburn baseball's starting rotation for its season-opening series against Eastern Kentucky is set.
Junior right-handed pitcher Chase Allsup will take the mound for Game 1 on Friday (6 p.m. CT, SEC Network+), the Tigers announced Wednesday afternoon. Redshirt junior Joseph Gonzalez, who missed all but one game last season with a shoulder injury, will start Game 2 on Saturday (1 p.m. CT, SEC Network+) and UAB transfer Carson Myers will lead the way in Game 3 on Sunday (1 p.m. CT, SEC Network+).
Allsup, who was last year's opening-day starter in a win over Indiana, appeared in 20 games with eight starts in 2023, earning a 5.47 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 49.1 innings pitched. The Dothan native pitched in 10 games (three starts) in SEC play, compiling a 4.15 ERA.
Gonzalez is back at Auburn for a fourth campaign after an injury-derailed junior season. He impressed in 2022, making 14 starts in 15 appearances and logging a 3.22 ERA as a sophomore.
Myers spent the last two seasons at UAB before transferring to Auburn in June. He made 13 starts and one relief appearance in 2023, striking out 70 batters in 71.2 innings pitched. Opponents had a .231 batting average against him.
