Dream rookie Chennedy Carter out 2 weeks after injuring ankle against Sun
Atlanta Dream guard Chennedy Carter is expected to miss about two weeks after suffering an ankle injury in their game against the Connecticut Sun on Monday, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Atlanta Dream guard Chennedy Carter left last night’s game against the Connecticut Sun with an ankle injury. She has undergone numerous tests since then, and the timetable for her return is listed as approximately two weeks. Updates will be shared as necessary.

She finished the game with just one assist in three minutes of playing time, and missed both of her shot attempts.
Carter, who was selected No. 4 overall in the draft earlier this year after a stellar career at Texas A&M, was averaging a team-best 19.4 points per game this season — which immediately launched her into contention for the Rookie of the Year award. She dropped 35 points against the Seattle Storm last week, making the 21-year-old the youngest player in league history to score 30 or more points in a game, according to ESPN.
The Dream have started the season 2-6 and are currently on a five-game losing skid. Carter would miss at least six games if she is out for two weeks, which would leave her with eight games left in the WNBA’s shortened 22-game regular season.
“We’re going to turn it over more if Chennedy’s not on the floor,” Dream coach Nicki Collen said, via ESPN. “She puts pressure on the defense. We had trouble at times initiating the offense and getting open.”
