Atlanta Braves star Marcell Ozuna was arrested on Saturday after an alleged domestic violence incident in Georgia, the team confirmed.

Ozuna, according to police records, was arrested in Sandy Springs — a northern suburb of Atlanta — on aggravated assault strangulation and misdemeanor battery-family violence charges.

According to the police report, officers heard screaming upon arrival and entered the home to find Ozuna “grabbing the victim by the neck and throwing her against the wall.” They also said that Ozuna “struck the victim with his arm which has a cast from a previous injury.”

The aggravated assault strangulation charge is a felony in Georgia, and carries a minimum of one year in prison and a maximum of 20, per ESPN.

Ozuna will be investigated under Major League Baseball's domestic violence policy.

"We learned of Marcell Ozuna's arrest earlier this evening and immediately informed the commissioner's office," the Braves said in a statement. "The Braves fully support Major League Baseball's policy on domestic violence which stresses to the fullest that our society cannot and will not tolerate domestic violence in any form.

"Until the investigation is completed, we will have no further comment and all inquiries into the matter should be referred to the office of the commissioner."

Ozuna was placed on the injured list earlier this week after he injured two fingers in a game. He was expected to miss several weeks, and did not travel with the team to New York for their series with the Mets.

The 30-year-old is in his second season with the Braves. He is in the first year of a four-year, $65 million deal with the team.

The incident happened nearly one year after Ozuna's wife, Genesis, was arrested on domestic violence charges. Genesis allegedly hit Ozuna with a soap dish in the face.
