Baseball has stepped up in a big way to help relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey hitting Houston. The Houston Astros already pledged $4 million toward relief efforts. MLB and its players union gave a $1 million donation. Players such as Matt Carpenter, who is from the Houston area, and Mike Trout, who just really likes weather, are chipping in even though they don’t play for the Astros.

And now, the Astros and Major League Baseball have announced another way they’re helping. All the revenues from the Astros’ relocated series against the Texas Rangers will be donated to charities that are helping hurricane victims. The two teams are playing Tuesday-Thursday at Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Notice that this isn’t “net proceeds.” This is all the revenue — from ticket sales all the way down to parking. It’s a great gesture by the Astros and MLB, especially since the early estimates are that it will take years to repair Houston.
