How Armando Bacot helped UNC land this football transfer

Armando Bacot is just living the life.

After a big breakout junior season, the UNC forward is following it up with an awesome offseason fresh off the announcement that he is returning for another year. Bacot will make an appearance on the Netflix show “Outer Banks” and was also recently spotted at the Kentucky Derby.

But he’s picked up a new talent as well — recruiting.

Bacot has flexed his muscles on social media in terms of trying to convince players to come to North Carolina. Both basketball and football. One of the latest UNC football transfers, Lejond Cavazos, was a player that Bacot knew at IMG Academy and it was Bacot himself that helped the defensive back know more about North Carolina and land a commitment.

Bacot helped pitch UNC to Cavazos and as John Garcia of Sports Illustrated writes, it paid off:

“I’m not gonna lie, before Mando, I didn’t really think about North Carolina,” Cavazos admitted. “He started hitting me up and from there I don’t know what happened (laughing). He’s like my brother, I trust him and I’m glad I get to be with him again.”

“I got one of my best friends out there with me so I’m happy to be there,” he said. “He said they wanted me there and was telling me everything about the school and Chapel Hill. I didn’t know what to expect, I hadn’t even been to North Carolina before that.”

Chalk another one up in the win column for Bacot.
