Arkansas punches back at Auburn football's Hugh Freeze 'We'd beat them 9 times' comments

AUBURN — Arkansas got the last laugh last weekend on the field defeating Auburn football 24-14 at Jordan-Hare Stadium this past Saturday. The Razorbacks' social media team got in on it too, coming back with comments made by Auburn coach Hugh Freeze.

Freeze talked Monday about the missed opportunities his team had falling to Arkansas on the "Tiger Talk" Auburn Sports Network Show. He said if they played in a series against the Razorbacks the Tigers would win most of the games.

“I love Sam Pittman, and I hope he wins the rest of his games, but I'm telling you the hard truth is we play Arkansas nine more times, we'd beat them nine times. And that’s what's hard to take," Freeze said.

Despite finishing with more total yards, the Tigers committed five turnovers, including throwing four interceptions. Arkansas used that in its jab back at the Tigers, posting a video on its X (formerly known as Twitter) account of defensive back Jayden Johnson intercepting a Hank Brown pass.

The caption read, "That's a pick nine times out of nine for Jayden Johnson," mocking the Freeze quote.

Freeze credited Arkansas at his news conference earlier Monday while lamenting the defeat.

"Certainly not lessening Arkansas, congratulations to coach Sam Pittman," Freeze said. "He did a great job in rebuilding his team through the portal and got some great additions there, and they're playing really solid football. But certainly, it was a game we felt like was winnable. And when you don't come through and get that, it stinks. I understand it and get it and hate it."
