Antonio Brown, Lisa Leslie in attendance for Memphis basketball game at FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. — The Memphis basketball game against FAU today has turned out to be a star-studded event.

Super Bowl champion wide receiver Antonio Brown and Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter were among those who pulled up to Saturday's marquee matchup between a pair of teams jockeying for March Madness positioning. WNBA legend and four-time Olympic gold medalist Lisa Leslie was also on hand Saturday.

Tigers coach Penny Hardaway, himself a former NBA superstar, led his team to a win over the Owls in Memphis on Feb. 25.

Brown, who is from Miami and 25th all-time with 12,291 receiving yards, declared Friday he would be in the arena for the game. His post on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) came the same day he generated major backlash for posting an AI-generated image depicting himself in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform kissing Taylor Swift. Brown, a five-time All-Pro who won a Super Bowl in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has become as notorious for his off-field issues and controversial social media persona.

Carter is a two-time all-pro and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013. Leslie, a former star for the Los Angeles Sparks, is a two-time WNBA champion and two-time WNBA Finals MVP.

Memphis basketball games have attracted many celebrities in recent years. Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant has attended several Tigers home games since arriving in Memphis. Basketball Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon was on hand for the Tigers' game at Houston (Olajuwon's alma mater) last season. Two seasons ago, WWE wrestler Omos (or, Jordan Omogbehin) showed up to a Memphis game at South Florida (his alma mater).

Most NCAA tournament projections have the Tigers (22-8, 11-6 AAC) on the wrong side of the bubble entering Saturday's game against FAU. The AAC tournament is set for next week at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.
